Pop music is a great area to plunder for material because there's such a broad variety of information you can ask about. As well as actually playing people the music and asking them what it is, you also have the opportunity to ask who sung what, when it was sung and one of my favourite takes on the music round is to ask people lyrics. The easier these are to recognise the better but you don't want to make the quiz question too easy. The best thing to do is to pick a very famous pop song and read the line in a way which scans totally differently to the original, thereby throwing people off the scent.

You can look at who did cover versions as well as famous facts about the people who sand the song, so it can as much be a famous person round. There's always material for a music quiz question in whatever is in the charts at the moment and you'll be surprised how many people you might think are perhaps a little old to know the charts actually pick up random fragments of information. Similar younger people aren't all totally ignorant to classical music either, although as with all rounds, if you're worried about excluding large chunks of your audience then stick to the well known stuff.
