Geography quizzes can be very awkward to write because they do not transfer well across continents. Although in fact this is generally true of all types of quiz questions, as anyone from America will find coming over here to do a pub quiz and to their horror discovering thet they are not going to know any of the latest goings on in our soap operas, or who our minor celebrtiry writers are. I don't know if Geoffrey Archer has cracked America yet, but something tells me he probably hasn't.

Same is true with Geography as it is totally subjective what you feel you should know (or what your teachers feel you should know) when you grow up and get out into the world and are suddenly expected to be able to not only navigate around the country that you live in without a map, but also know that the tallest mountain is called in the nearest three countries. Actually, saying this, the term Geography at school is a bit of a joke really as it gave me abolutely no geographical skills which related to the world around me. Only my love of football has allowed me to figure out where I am in the country in relation to anywhere else, due to the fact that I usually know how far away the nearest football ground is and whether or not it's a good idea to drive all the way there to see my team lose.

Anyway, I digress. You will find that most people from, say Australia, attending a pub quiz in England will find it quite hard to name some of the county towns and largest boroughs to say the least! Although I do wonder if a few people from over the water would be surprised at how much we know about their states and state capitals. I've never revised or read up on state capitals but I suspect I knew quite a few, and enough to answer a question or two in a pub quiz.
