The wonderfully useful 'general knowledge' round here which is really just an excuse to lump together all the quiz questions which don't really have a home anywhere else. Or rather, more truthfully, all the questions no-one can ever be bothered to categorise down further and properly into more esoteric subjects. For instance, just looking over the free bits to the right there, I'd look at the Bacardi question and consider adding a section on food and drink quiz questions, then the next one is a sort of 'famous people' round, and the one after that should be horticulture. Although actually I have in the past lumped stuff like that in a science and nature section, but some reason that bit of garlic info has escaped.

The GI question should really be something to do with linguistics, or possibly semantics. Maybe it even deserves to go in the language and literature section, I'm not entirely sure.

There should definitely be a section on art free quiz questions, so that we can stick famous painters in there without the poor blokes like Da Vinci being lumped together with other things which really aren't art, such as television programmes. Actually, I take that back, some television is art but let's not get into a high brow discussion about that sort of stuff on a website about quizzes. This should all be light hearted fun for all the family and should just give some poor quiz writer somewhere a break when looking for information to throw together a bit of fun for the old quiz night.

There are a lot of Amiercan-related questions in this general knowledg seciton. I can't really say why. I suppose a culture to which we're so closely related and yet really have so little in common with is going to be a rich source of data as we share a common language (sort of) and we're aware of a lot of their cultural references to the large amount of TV we import, and yet we're not so familiar with them that the questions become pointless. I always find it interesting how we understand a lot of Americanisms but thankfully still refuse to adopt them, however because the USA seems almost nothing of our television, that they don't get a lot of what we are talking about. I find it interesting that the Americans both loved The Office, and gave it an awful lot of awards and acclaim, and yet still had to make their own version of it. Have we ever taken an American show and made a UK version of it? I can't think of one off the top of my head, but I guess this is more a discussion which should be taking place over the TV and Film quiz questions page so I'm just going to leave it at that before I start thinking too much about this, although I am doing rather well at filling this column and if I don't find a full stop from somewhere I might just go on to complete the longest single sentence on a website since some poor, ill-educated child from Dunstable wrote an essay about history quiz questions but the full stop key on his computer keyboard had broken so he had just keep running the sentence on and on until he died.
